LU IJU CERAMICS 

Founded by Katarina Lu in 2016, based in Rotterdam, LU IJU CERAMICS handcrafts delicate fine pottery with porcelain and stoneware clay.

Design Concept 

Inspired by "Zen of Minimalism" - Katarina creates ceramic works with clean lines and low-key colors. Each gorgeous piece is hand-thrown in a meditative state.

She believes that Zen is the art of seeing into the nature of one's own being, and it points the way from bondage to freedom. Minimalism is about breaking free from slavery to things and living in freedom in such a way that we are content no matter what the situation is. Zen and minimalism both pursue freedom, both highlight the beauty in simplicity. 

Current Work

Katarina's current work focuses on exploring the relationship between ceramics and light. She wants her porcelain work to be translucent and milk white, like a white jade.

She is working on testing her own Porcelain clay recipe and creating modern multifunctional objects through traditional Chinese porcelain techniques (Linglong Porcelain & Eggshell Porcelain).
